Victorian women were known to wear jewelry inspired by plants and animals -- including necklaces, earrings, and bracelets made to look like insects, bugs, and flowers.
This antique brooch (circa 1870) features a beetle adorned with rose cut bohemian garnets mounted in silver vermeil (gold washed silver).
The piece measures 0.75 inches by 1.7 inches long (including the protruding pin tip). It is in very good condition with slight bit of wear to the gold vermeil on the reverse of the piece.
Materials: Garnet, Silver.
